Founded in 1998 by Tohru Nogami in Osaka, Japan, Samurai jeans are instantly recognisable by the flash of silver thread woven into the selvedge—a callback to the steely glint of samurai swords of yore. Samurai produces very unique fabrics, some heavily slubbed and dyed with natural indigo. As you’d expect from a Japanese denim brand, the quality of construction, fabric, and finishing is second to none.
The S713VXII is a tapered cut jean, built from their 17oz Zero+ selvedge denim. Woven at a low tension, this fabric is packed with texture, from the irregular slub to the deep indigo hue begging to be broken in.
