Founded in 1911 by Balthasar Merz, Merz b. Schwanen manufactured loopwheeled worker's henleys and underwear before ceasing operation in 2005. In 2011, the brand was re-established by Gitta and Peter Plotnicki, whose passion for traditional clothing and manufacturing is apparent in everything Merz B. Schwanen produces.
