Founded in 1976, BEAMS is considered one of Japan's biggest fashion success stories. Starting out in a 21.5m2 storefront and building that into an empire of over 150 stores in 5 countries, all while remaining an independent family-owned business. Founded in 1998, BEAMS Boy is the women's equivalent of BEAMS+, offering masculine styling and silhouettes for the gals.
Madras is a very traditional Indian textile, handwoven with yarns dyed with natural pigments. The result of such hand-crafting is a fabric that is "guaranteed to bleed" (as Brooks Brothers marketed it in the 60s) and produce the incredible muted tones you see here. Patchwork Madras gained popularity soon after for its loud aesthetic, all while being a fantastic use of scrap fabrics.
This adorable shirt features a masculine cut, adjusted for feminine proportions. It features a button front closure, button-down collar and a single chest pocket.
