Yvon Chouinard, Patagonia’s founder, got his start as a climber in 1953 as a 14-year-old member of the Southern California Falconry Club. The company DNA is deeply rooted in the outdoors. Yvon would see problems in climbing gear, outdoor equipment, mountaineering clothing etc. He would then work on improving what he felt didn't work, and once redesigned, release products that revolutionised the industry.
Patagonia first developed the Synchilla fabric with Polartec in 1979. A warm and breathable insulator, they developed it to function similarly to wool. Available in countless patterns and colour iterations over the years, this grey/navy is one of the classics.
