Red Wing - 8012 "Munson Last" Iron Ranger Boots

Founded in Red Wing Minnesota in 1905, the family-owned business has been making footwear in the United States ever since. Each pair is crafted using premium leather from their own SB Foot Tanning Company, with many of the original lasts from the early to mid-20th Century, still as relevant today as when they were first created. This includes the iconic no. 8 last, which the Original Moc Toe boot was formed with in 1952. Red Wing Heritage continues to build on this historic legacy with their continued commitment to producing quality footwear in their USA homeland.

This rare model was only available in a limited number of countries: the Netherlands, Japan, and South Korea. The biggest difference between this model and the original Iron Rangers is its last and leather.

“To meet the needs of the military service,” Edward Munson declared in his book The Soldier’s Foot and the Military Shoe, “a special military shoe is required.” And so, in 1912, the Munson last was born. This anatomical last, with an asymmetrical toe shape that closely follows the natural contours of the human foot, was utilized for the US Army’s footwear up until around the 1960s.

These boots are made from Burgundy Settler leather, they have a subtle brogue detail on the toe-cap, and speed hooks . The outsole is Goodyear welted and the same as regular Iron Rangers - Oil Resistant Cork sole.
