For a comic strip that its creator declared was ‘about nothing’, made up only of ‘little incidents’, Peanuts’ influence on culture and society is unlike anything else. For the second half of the 20th century, from 1950 to 2000, Schulz’s creation dominated the comics page, becoming the most popular comic strip of all time.
During the late 1960s and early 70s the Beach Boys would make a number of records that shared themes with Charles Schulz’s work at the time - ecological concerns, mental well being, love and happiness. "Add some music to your day" from their classic 1970 album Sunflower, expressed hope in the lyrics that music could bring people together.
