An Icon of American fashion, founded in 1967, Ralph Lauren is a household name at this point. The brand combines collegiate classics, western-wear, modern downtown styles and all-American sporting looks.
Launched in 1992, Polo Sport marked Ralph Lauren’s revolutionary leap from preppy tailoring to technical, athletic streetwear. This shirt, however, is hardly a departure from what PRL would normally release. The "Sportsman Shirt" was designed to merge rugged, traditional American outdoor utility gear with modern 1990s streetwear aesthetics. While Polo Sport was largely celebrated for its bold Olympic-themed tracksuits and technical windbreakers, the "Sportsman" pieces introduced a curated sub-theme focused entirely on premium outdoor heritage.
Produced in the early to mid '90s, this shirt is styled to mimic vintage work shirts and early 20th-century exploration gear. It features two flap pockets and a branded stamp-style print on the left pocket.
