Rough and Tumble - Patchwork Madras S/S Shirt

RandT (Rough and Tumble) was established in 2000 under the Nepenthes label as an avenue for Daiki’s more imaginative designs and has since evolved into a creative outlet and proving ground for future Engineered Garments ideas.

This exceptional shirt is an early piece from the label, when its main focus was shirting. It is crafted from panels of mixed Madras fabrics. Madras is a very traditional Indian textile, handwoven using yarns dyed with natural pigments. The result of such hand-crafting is a fabric that is "guaranteed to bleed" (as Brooks Brothers marketed it in the 60s) and produce the incredible muted tones you see here. Patchwork Madras gained popularity for its loud aesthetic, all while being a fantastic use of scrap fabrics.
