While we usually focus on contemporary garments for I&P Recycle, a love for vintage is coursing through our veins! When the right item presents itself, we can't say no!
Hickory stripe originated in late 19th-century America as a rugged, indigo-and-white striped cotton twill. It was popularised among railroad workers, as the thick weave provided denim-like durability (named after the tough hickory tree), and the vertical stripes helped disguise coal soot and machine grease.
Produced in 1986, these trousers feature a straight leg with a high rise. An internal elastic/button mechanism can be used to get the correct fit. Sometime in the past 40 years, these trousers were hand embroidered with fossil motifs, adding a sense of whimsy to these utilitarian trousers.
