One of New Zealand's most iconic fashion houses, WORLD was established in 1989 by Francis Hooper and Dame Denise L’Estrange-Corbet. Known for their bold avant-garde designs and prints, the brand has remained fiercely independent and committed to "doing things their own way". All pieces are hand-made in New Zealand!
This beautiful merino turtle neck is from their 2018 winter collection. They named this piece Shan Jahan after Shah Jahan, the fifth Mughal Emperor (1628–1658), who is best known for creating the Taj Mahal. His reign is considered the Golden Age of Mughal architecture. How this relates to the garment is unknown; however, the abstract jacquard knit features colour blocks that represent the sea, land and sun.
