Guttynut: A 2020 Playlist For Indigo & Provisions
It's no secret that we admire Ryan (@guttynut) for his great taste in sneakers, clothing and music. He's been supportive of us since launching the store in 2018, but especially this year and in particular the One Take Fits IGTV series we do. This week we asked on our Instagram Stories for people to submit their Album Of The Year which then went on to inspire us to create a playlist. It didn't really make sense for us to make one ourselves, because there are people within our community with far better tastes than ours. This led back to Ryan and us approaching him to curate a playlist for us, which he enthusiastically agreed to do. We also asked him to write a few words about his selections which you can read below followed by the track list and link to the Spotify playlist.

Ryan - "I don’t think anyone would argue that 2020 has been a bit of a clanger. Post-truth right-wing tyranny, symbols of the looming climate crisis and a spiralling global virus kept us isolated and forced to reflect on how fragile an ideal civilisation might be if we let it come apart. Thankfully, in spite of all that anxious gloom and uncertainty, it has also been a year of hopeful optimism and progress; of movements. People rising up in record numbers to reject hatred and topple the self-serving institutions that would work to keep us apart.
When Dom asked me to make a playlist, I wanted to stitch my favourite music from this unique year into a playlist that respects those movements and has its own sort of sentimental journey celebrating diversity and humanity. Intentionally nostalgic electronics (Bicep, Machinedrum), John Carpenter-indebted synth jams (Zombi, Luke Abbott) and hip hop that pays homage to my formative MTV Base days (Griselda, Freddie Gibbs). That then gives way to an early 2000s disco-punk swagger (Squid, !!!) and the 90s Manchester undertones of shoegaze-inflected grunge (Nothing, Narrow Head). All thoroughly 2020 in its reflection on days past. Hope you enjoy!"
