Since his first show in 1988, Japanese designer Akira Onozuka has created a legacy of process and maturity with his label Zucca. From his apprenticeship with Issey Miyake in the 1970s, he has retained a strong taste for the creative process. In 1994, the brand launched a new line, Zucca Travail, which Akira described as "work wear for the inactive", and is inspired by work clothes, uniforms and sportswear. The collection is made in France and has even been awarded for its contribution to the manufacturing industry in France.

Clearly inspired by French "Sack Coats" of the mid-19th century, this jacket features the period-accurate shapeless silhouette with two front patch pockets, an open collar and a two-piece back. A few modern details have been added: a zip closure and an additional zip pocket that sits inside one of the patch pockets. It's crafted from a heavy cotton drill fabric and has been enzyme-washed to give the fabric a lived-in, casual feel.
